France-based GTT is to supply its No 96 GW containment system to Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME), to be installed in two 173,400m³ LNG carrier newbuildings.
DSME will deliver the two vessels in 2019 to the unnamed shipowner, thought to be John Fredriksen-owned Flex LNG. The shipyard announced in a stock exchange filing in March that it had landed a two-ship order worth US$363.3 million, plus two options.
The deal was the first confirmed order of the year for a conventional LNG carrier. In February, GTT landed an order from DSME to supply its No 96 containment system to the floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) under construction for Maran Gas Maritime at the Geoje shipyard.
Maran takes delivery of its first FSRU from DSME in 2020.
Nearly 150 LNG carriers in service are fitted with the No 96 containment system, GTT says.
