Norway’s Fosen Yard has formed a joint venture with Chinese shipyard Hantong Shipbuilding to build cruise, ropax and roro vessels.
The new joint venture – called Fosen Hantong – will also involve the establishment of a design and development company in Trondheim, to provide marine design and technology as part of the solution they are offering to clients.
Fosen explained in a statement that Hantong will secure “high production capacity, high quality production and also add financial strength and accommodate for financing arrangements when required”.
Fosen Yard possesses “market leading resources, knowhow, technical and operational solutions to enable Fosen Hantong to offer full scope, advanced projects within the roro, ropax and cruise segments”.
Jiangsu Hantong Ship Heavy Industry Co Ltd has delivered 200 vessels of different types, primarily to European customers and has also established long-term co-operation with these owners.
Fosen is designing Color Line’s Color Hybrid, the world’s largest hybrid battery vessel.
